TMSG: Woman Home From Hospital After Battling COVID for Over a Year

A woman in Missouri is finally home from the hospital after over a year long battle with COVID.

Wife, mother, and grandmother Gwen Starkey was in the hospital for 377 days battling COVID. The entire battle took a toll on her body, but now she's excited to see life outside of the hospital. Her family credited faith, determination, and dedicated medical teams at Kindred Hospital Northland and MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital for making Starkey's return home possible. Starkey shared that her husband has been her rock through her recovery and she thanked the medical teams who cared for her over the past year.

Starkey's family members were there through every step of her recovery. They waited by her hospital window when protocols previously didn't allow visitors. And they celebrated every milestone including Starkey's freedom from a ventilator and the transfer from a hospital to rehabilitation. Now they're celebrating her coming home. Starkey told KCTV 5, "This is what I live for, this family. I get to go home with my family. That’s all I want.”
