Miranda Lambert Wrote 'Bluebird' Three Days After Her Secret Wedding

Miranda Lambert and her husband Brendan McLoughlin apparently didn't have much of a honeymoon after getting married last year. Only three short days after the couple made it official in a surprise ceremony, Lambert was already back to work writing songs for her most recent album, Wildcard.

Her current single "Bluebird" was one of the songs she was writing at the time with co-writers Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. When the three sat down to write the song, Lambert decided it was time to let them in on her big secret.

"I felt like for that song I might as well tell my news to my friends, because I felt like it would really add [to it]," Lambert shared in a recent interview. "And it turned out that it did."

"She poured a glass of wine and held up her hand," Hemby shared. "She goes, ‘I got married three days ago.’ And Luke and I started laughing; like, we just couldn’t believe it. Brendan is so sweet, and they’re so happy."

Lambert continues on to share how quickly "Bluebird" came about thanks to her positivity and good mood she was in after marrying McLoughlin.

"I’m a Scorpio, and I’m a woman, so that equals emotion,” Lambert said. "If you’re in the room with musicians and you’re putting down this track of a song that you love dearly, you’re going to sing like [the room feels]. But if you’re running in there at 2:30 and you’re like, ‘I have an hour before my next interview, I’m going to get this vocal,’ it just doesn’t work for me, you know. I have to be put into place. I guess it’s almost like an actress being put in her role at the time. Like it’s hard to snap in and out."

"Bluebird" is Lambert's second single off her Wildcard album following the lead single, "It All Comes Out In The Wash." The country singer will kick off her Wildcard Tour on Thursday, January 16 in Tupelo, Mississippi.

While on tour, Lambert plans to launch MuttNation's "Fill The Little Red Wagon" campaign giving fans the opportunity to donate to local animal shelters. Additionally, she'll honor first responders at each tour stop.

Joining her on the road is the Texas country singer, Cody Johnson and Lanco. For a few select stops, the Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum will also join Lambert. Tickets for the tour are available now.
