- Dec 2: The festivities kick off with our annual Fun Run under the stars and lights.
- Dec 9: Our Grand Opening on Monday, Dec 10 opens the Trail to the public greeting Austinites and visitors with a special opening ceremony.
Austin Trail of Lights 2018
The AUSTIN TRAIL OF LIGHTS is Austin’s largest holiday tradition and 2nd largest event in the city. Run by the Trail of Lights Foundation, the annual event in Zilker Park celebrates the unique spirit and people that make Austin the place we love to call home.
The Austin Trail of Lights is a community event that invites 400,000 people every year to come celebrate the holidays in the heart of Austin, Texas during the month of December. The event showcases everything that we love about Austin—from music and food to creativity and family fun. Thanks to the Trail of Lights Foundation, we are able to keep it free for at least ½ of the nights to make sure that anyone who wants to be part of the experience has a way to do so.

Gather post run with family and friends at our Finish Line Festival in the middle of Zilker Park for DJ entertainment and dance party, fitness expo, activities, food trucks, complimentary post-run beer or cocoa and more! Don’t miss our new VIP Fun Run options with access to a VIP Lounge, snacks, bar and other upgrades.

General Admission is free for half of the nights at the Austin Trail of Lights! Refer to the calendar to see which nights offer free entry and which nights carry a $3 entry fee for attendees 12 and over.
- Purchase a GA ticket online, in advance to skip the long gate admission lines at the Trail.
ZIP Fast Passes
ZIP Fast Passes are the ultimate convenience at the Austin Trail of Lights! Providing early access to the Trail at 6pm – one hour before the general public. ZIP guests also enter through a dedicated ZIP entrance, plus receive access our special ZIP Lobby and Zilker Lounge with holiday cookies, cocoa, comfy seating and heated washrooms!
