The city of Vancouver has banned the round doorknob, and not just knobs on doors, but knobs for faucets.

Vancouver is the only city in Canada with its own building code, and it's phasing out knobs in favor of levers and handles that are easier to use by older people with arthritis or people who have difficulties with their hands.

The new code takes full effect in March of 2014, but for those who love the knob, they don't need to worry because the  rules apply only to new construction, not to any older buildings or doors that already have them.

And there are no rules against knobs used for decoration.
