SAN FERNANDO (CNS) - An armed suspect was killed today in an officer- involved shooting in San Fernando, after an earlier shooting that left at least one other person injured. 

The male suspect, whose name was not released, was shot and killed by San Fernando Police Department officers, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Tina Schrader said. 

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of South Brand Boulevard, Schrader said. 

The sheriff's department was assisting the San Fernando Police Department with the investigation. 

San Fernando officers were responding to a man with a gun report at the address, Schrader said A woman who had been shot ran out of the residence as the officers arrived, Schrader said. 

Cellphone footage of the incident broadcast by NBC4 showed three armed officers at the scene, two with long guns. As the officers approached the residence, they were confronted by the suspect, who was armed.

At this point the officer-involved shooting occurred, Schrader said. 

It was not clear whether one or both officers fired upon the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said two other victims were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Schrader said she knew of only one other person who had been injured.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Dave Coleman told reporters at the scene that another woman had been in the house, as well as two small children.

Officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic weapon at the scene, Coleman said.
